Capistrano's at the Embassy Suites - Los
Angeles (LAX)
*Embassy Suites has been turning many of their properties into tropical paradises over the past few years, and this one is no exception.
We came here straight from LAX, and were more than pleasantly surprised to find a lush, beautifully designed hotel just one mile from the airport.
This Embassy Suites has one of the longest atrium's we've ever seen, extending the entire length of the hotel. The roof here is one gigantic skylight, flooding the vast interior with natural light.
A serpentine flagstone walkway meanders from one end of the facility to the other, taking you through an endless indoor garden, planted with thriving palms, ficus, fiddle leaf fig trees, ferns and a nursery's worth of additional greenery.
Five stories of guestrooms all open onto the atrium, something overnight guests really enjoy. All they have to do is step outside their doorway for a spectacular view of the scenery below.
At one end of the atrium is the Granada Courtyard, an expansive flagstone patio where ceremonies are held. Enclosed by a profusion of greenery, and illuminated by both the skylight and a series of tall arched windows, it's an uplifting spot for exchanging vows. Even on cloudy days, the pale peach walls of the hotel's interior provide a subtle warmth.
At the opposite end is the koi pond, a luxuriant spot obviously designed with photography in mind. Palms, ficus trees and stands of bamboo hug the "banks' of their long, shallow pool, giving the resident fish, ducks, and turtles the impression that they live in a mini-Eden. Couples often join the inhabitants for picture-taking in front of their photogenic home.
Between the Courtyard and the koi pond, at the midpoint of the atrium, is a wonderful double staircase that's also a popular choice for wedding photos. A colorful tiled fountain flows in front of the landing where the two stairways meet, and a brilliant crystal chandelier overhead adds light and sparkle.
Receptions are usually hosted in the Imperial Ballroom, a traditional space with dark wood wainscoting, light tan walls and series of contemporary crystal chandeliers. Smaller events take place in the Ambassador Ballroom, or in Capistrano's, the hotel's signature restaurant.
In addition to the eye-catching setting, brides and grooms can look forward to reasonable wedding packages. People planning a business function also get a warm welcome, along with over 10,000 square feet of meeting/banquet space plus services and accommodations geared just for them.
Catering is provided by Capistrano's, noted for their excellent California cuisine. They will be happy to customize your menu and help you plan your celebration.
