Capistrano's at the Embassy Suites - Orange County Airport [ North ]

*When you pass through the lobby into the enormous Atrium around which the Embassy Suites Hotel is built, you may think you've stepped onto the set of a Merchant Ivory movie.

Murals depicting India's hot teeming jungle, porcelain vases filled with tropical plants, brass ceiling fans and a color palette of teals, greens and pastels are reminiscent of the British Raj.

Brick pathways meander around boulders and through a forest of mature palms that surrounds several natural rock waterfalls, whose splashing cascades delight the ear as well as the eye.

Although the Atrium is rife with photo options, most couples factor the picturesque white wooden bridge that arches over one of the indoor koi-filled pools.

On one side of the Atrium, is Capistrano's Restaurant. It provides an extraordinary indoor dining experience that makes you feel like you're outdoors.

Its most arresting feature, the Gazebo, is an open air structure with a vine-laden canopy that's large enough to accommodate a ceremony or a few tables and chairs. A wide corridor with more tables shaded by green market umbrellas links the Gazebo to the restaurant.

Capistrano's is so beautifully decorated; it's hard to take in the multitude of nicely designed details. Striped awnings over doorways, hand-sponged peach walls an Indian jungle mural, carved black enameled chairs, gleaming faux-marble columns, painted ironwork....the list is longer than we have room for.

As you gaze around you, the air gently stirring beneath brass ceiling fans, it's not too hard to imagine yourself in a more exotic time and place.

During the event, you can wander over to the adjacent Lounge for a cocktail or for some evening entertainment. The Lounge's white, pressed time ceiling contrasts with the glossy dark wood bar and pale peach walls.

In keeping with the Colonial Indian theme, there's an eye catching mural of an Indian jungle safari, complete with elephants, a maharajah or two and a wary tiger. Potted plants, brass ceiling fans and a comfy sofa give the bar a casual feel.

From Capistrano's, a corridor laid with gleaming tan, white and black marble leads to the handsome Pacific Ballroom. You can rent the entire Ballroom or any of its four sections separately. The decor here is contemporary, with light, papered walls, dark wood wainscoting and modern chandeliers.
